Synthetic Resins: Copolymerization with butadiene and styrene produces ABS resin (engineering plastic); copolymerization with styrene produces SAN resin (transparent material). 3. Synthetic Rubber: Copolymerization with butadiene produces nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), known for its excellent oil resistance. 4. Other Chemicals: Hydrocyanation produces adiponitrile, a precursor to Nylon 66; hydration produces acrylamide, used in flocculants, paper strengtheners, etc. Acrylonitrile is typically produced via the ammoxidation of propylene, ammonia, and air (SOHIO process).
