Synthetic Resins and Plastics: Approximately one-third of phenol is condensed with formaldehyde to produce phenolic resin (the first synthetic plastic), used in bakelite, insulation materials, and friction materials. Another third is used to produce bisphenol A (via reaction with acetone), a key monomer for manufacturing polycarbonate (transparent engineering plastic), epoxy resins, and polysulfone resins, widely used in automotive, electronics, medical devices, and packaging. 2. Synthetic Fibers: Through hydrogenation and oxidation steps, it is converted into cyclohexanone and caprolactam, ultimately polymerized into Nylon 6 fibers and engineering plastics for textiles and automotive parts. 3. Fine Chemicals: Serves as an intermediate for producing salicylic acid (precursor to aspirin), alkylphenols (surfactants), 2,4-D (herbicide), phenolphthalein (indicator), and various other fine chemicals. 4. Other Uses: Historically used as a surgical disinfectant due to its bactericidal properties; also employed as a selective solvent. Modern industrial production primarily utilizes the cumene process, co-producing acetone. Our product is industrial-grade phenol, manufactured in Shandong, China, using advanced technology.
